Randy Rodriguez has spent more than 25 years designing, supporting, and evolving voice communications technology—from the earliest days of enterprise Voice over IP to today's AI-powered communications platforms.
His VoIP experience began at MCI/WorldCom, where he supported emerging enterprise VoIP services during their beta phases, before modern SIP standards had fully taken shape. As the industry transitioned from traditional telecommunications to IP-based voice, Randy worked directly with the technologies, networks, and operational challenges that helped shape modern VoIP.
That experience has grown to include SIP architecture, carrier interconnections, BroadSoft, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Session Border Controllers, hosted PBX platforms, IVR systems, contact centers, high-availability voice infrastructure, and large-scale carrier routing. Randy also founded a VoIP training company, teaching enterprise VoIP concepts to corporations and technical teams, and later founded Bigfoot Voice to provide hosted VoIP and telecommunications consulting services.
Today, his focus is on bringing telecommunications and artificial intelligence together.
Randy designs communications platforms where AI isn't simply added on top of a phone system—it becomes an integrated part of the communications infrastructure. His recent work includes conversational AI, intelligent IVRs, AI-assisted contact centers, automated call quality analysis, agent-assist technologies, CRM integration, API-driven telecom automation, caller verification, and systems that transform voice and conversational data into actionable business information.
His enterprise voice environments have supported more than 1.65 million calls and 12 million minutes of annual talk time, with architectures designed for high availability, geographic redundancy, carrier failover, and thousands of concurrent call paths.
At Bigfoot Voice, Randy is applying decades of telecommunications experience to the next generation of business communications—combining proven SIP and VoIP infrastructure with AI agents, conversational intelligence, automation, and modern cloud technologies.
The technology has changed dramatically since the early days of VoIP. The goal hasn't: make communication more reliable, more useful, and easier for people and businesses to use.
